The glamorous live event, featuring the most beautiful women in the universe, will air on NBC in the United States, with a Spanish simulcast on Telemundo.
“I am very pleased to announce our partnership with media conglomerate Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicacao and the selection of Sao Paulo as the host location for Miss Universe 2011,” said the pageant’s owner, Donald J. Trump. ”Brazil is rapidly becoming an economic powerhouse and is a great place to do business. This decade, Brazil is hosting three of the greatest and most-watched worldwide events: the World Cup, the Summer Olympic Games and now, to kick it all off, Miss Universe.”
“Grupo Bandeirantes is delighted that we have reached an agreement with the Miss Universe Organization to host the Miss Universe 2011 pageant in Sao Paulo, Brazil,” said the network’s president, Joao Carlos Saad. “We believe it is fitting for Brazil to set the stage for this glamorous event, and we look forward to showing the contestants, and the almost 200 countries around the world who watch the pageant every year, the exciting and vibrant culture of our beautiful country.”

This is first time in its 60-year history the Miss Universe contest will be held in Brazil.
Mexicana, Ximena Navarrete, Miss Universe 2010, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the telecast. During her reign, Navarrete has traveled the world as an advocate for HIV/AIDS education, research, and legislation. The next Miss Universe will continue this work.

While I think it’s nice the pageant will be in Brazil. I still think that the Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants should have been held in Long Beach, CA for the 60th anniversary, since that is where it all began.
OH, EN BRASIL SE CUMPLIRA EL VATICINIO: MISS COLOMBIA SERA ELEGIDA MISS UNIVERSO 2011. Y MISS UCRANIA SERA UNA DE SUSU GRANDES RIVAlES.
when to be held in INDONESIA?
Don’t be naive people! It’s all business. The highest bidder wins!
Expect Miss BRAZIL to be in the semi-finals in the Miss Universe 2011 pageant! MARK MY WORD!
However, congratulations to BRAZIL, it will attract a lot of tourists and bring some income to the economy.
@erika.. why do people say Brazil is going to be in the semi finals? More than just a few times the pageant has proven us that the host delegate does not have any advantage. Bahamas did not place in 2009 and USA did not place in 2010…
anyhoo, it is beyond me why would Brazil pay to bring the pageant, unless Trump is footing the bill… Brazil doesn’t need a pageant to bring tourism and Miss Universe, let’s be honest… other than the usual 50-60 family members and about 40 international journalists, the pageant does not attract people who would actually spend their money to go there when in this day and age everything can be watched comfortably on YouTube… all for a price of a T1 line.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWW!!! miss universe 2011 in Brazil
my country will have the pleasure of hosting such nice event.
The only thing i think is that the date is to late, could be in june or july
but let´s wait until September, hope Miss Brazil places in the semifinals because 2008 we were shocked when Natalia Anderle was out of the top 15, instead Hungary placed. In 2009 Larissa was ranked high at youtube videos and global beauties, but lost her spot to candidates such as Switzerland, Croatia in 2010 again, eventhough not beeing one of the best delegates for Brazil, Debora was predicted top 20 in missosology and top 15 for global beauties and lost her spot for countries suchas Belgium !!!
Meet Miss Rio Grande do Sul Universe 2011, Priscila Machado
she would be a nice candidate
Best candidates for the peagent until now
Spain- Paula Guilló
Mexico- Karin Ontiveros
Brazil- Priscila Machado (if elected)
and Puerto rico- Viviana Ortiz
nice to be held at Samba city, butthe date to late.w hy not to be held in July.may be preparations lol.so many th inks to be done
venezuelaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
MAJOR MAJOR HISTORICAL OF 60TH EDITION!
It would be fantastic if a black beauty would win the pageant in Brazil!! Because their obsession with the northern european beauty type is getting old…….
q bueno!! tendremos una gran cobertura! y lo bueno cerca de aqui! y estaremos junto a la anfitriona osea BOLIVIA -BRAZIL! q bueno!
This is the saddest news in the History of Miss Universe. I have no problem with the allocation to Sao Paolo. My issue is with the Trump clan, they know exactly how to exploit the poerer 3rd world countries. Also start investigating what is his businees contacts with the sponsors and the companies who will give prizes to the winner. I can guarentee now already that 90% of all those involved are linked to the Trump empire and consortiums.
It is seriously time thatthe Pagenat lovers around the world start a fund to create a super Beauty competition with following stipulations:
1. Thecountry who win the first title, will host the next pageant finale
2. Judging will be done by a representative from each continent.
3. Each country allowed to vote for each finalist in a block voting system
4. Final evening, the judges vote counts to 50% of the votes and the public have the
other 50% voting rights
5. Final evening judging scores will be live on the screen for the public to see, so
no secret ballot and voting
6. Judging will be based on the following:
6.1. National costume – maximim 20 points
6.2. Swimsuit – maximum 15 points
6.3. Evening gown – maximum 10 points
6.4. Intellegence – maximum 25 points
6.5. Beauty – maximum 30 points
We can call it Miss Globe Beauty

BRAZIL TO BE THE BEST PLACE FOR MISS UNIVERSE 2011
Hope its a great anniversary celebration and a great pageant.
I agree with you Mr. Richard:-)
Hoping for a great Production,
This is so cool. Three cheers for Brazil as host nation for MU! It would be even cooler of some of the great Miss Brazils of the past could participate as judges or at least be named and given applause, people like Martha Rocha or the two Barzilian MUs, Ieda Vargas and Martha Vasconcellos.
Brazil will be a beautiful country to host MU 2011, good choice but let the
MU know that most contestants have to wait almost 1 year to compete, why they don’t
Go back to one set date like end of May of early June. That would be more
Considerate to the contestants and pageant directors.
feel sad that the MU-organization dont dare to expand outside its usual latin america market….but goód that a country who has never hoste it before gets to host it.
@davve – well the same thing everybody can say of Miss World for not bringing the pageant to the Americas. Brazil is a very interesting country although the date will put it very close to the rest of the Grand Slam pageants. Many MU contestants tend to participate in those other pageants and this time it would be very hard to accomplish.
I expected that miss universe 2011 will be held in Europe or Asia, Because its gonna be something new and bring the new aura for the competition. And I hope that it can be run in June or July as 2005 and 2006. New Judging format always be waited.
I can’t wait to watch the Miss Universe contest. I enjoyed watching it more than, the Academy Awards. I think Miss Angola is going to win.
Miss Venezuela – Vanessa Gonçalves And Miss Bolivia Olivia Pinheiro. Are The Best!
Vamos Venezuelaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Let’s hope Portugal sends a representative.
Yeah, i believe that BRAZIL will be the great country for the Miss Universe 2011…I hope that ASIA well rock BRAZIL with there beautiful REPRESENTATIVE..INDIA and PHILIPPINES!Go go go for the crown…
I want to know when Venezuela will host the Miss UNiverse since that country always wins Miss Universe have plenty runner ups! how come they dont give effort to host it in their country?? and I think MUO is insulted by that but why they dont ban venezuela!
please no more latin rules in the next miss universe pageant…
brazil would be a great place for miss U 2011.
im expecting miss philippines to have a place. top 5 woulD be great!!!
MABUHAY!!!!
