Miss Bahamas 2010 Braneka Bassett congratulates Sasha Joyce on her victory
The Bahamas Weekly – 23-year old Sasha Joyce won the crown of Miss Bahamas World 2011 during the annual competition held May 1st at the Atlantis Theatre in Paradise Island. Sasha, who stands 1.78 m tall, will represent the Bahamas in the 2011 Miss World pageant to be held in December.
Sasha was featured as the Tribune’s Athlete of the week in 2004. She also represented the Bahamas in the 2005 Carifta Games where she obtained a silver and bronze medal in the heptathlon and 4X4 relay respectively.
During College, she was one of the founding members of Mckendree University’s International Student Organization and a member of the University’s Black Student Organization.
Crowned Miss Bahamas Universe, with the right to represent the country in the 2011 Miss Universe Pageant in Sao Paulo next September, was 22-year old Anastagia Pierre.
The 1.76 m beauty studied in Spain last summer for one semester and fell in love with the experience, also participating in the running of the bulls in Pamplona.
Anastagia, a former Miss Florida USA, was featured in GlobalBeauties’ Top 50 most beautiful faces of the year in 2009. She also competed in the 2010 Miss Intercontinental contest in the Dominican Republic, where she ended as 2nd runner-up.
The runner-ups in the competition were Darronique Young (for Miss Bahamas World) and Shari Deiva (for Miss Bahamas Universe). Completing the Top 5 was Kristy Evans. The finalists will participate in pageants such as Miss Intercontinental and Miss Supranational.

Court of Winners

The Top 5

Congratulations to both winners. Without a doubt, Sarah Joyce will win the Sports fast-track competition at Miss World. Bahamas will also have their first semi-finalist with Anastagia at Miss Universe. Good Choices.
It’s interesting how a former Miss USA contestant finally gets to compete in Miss Universe representing another country. This is history we’re witnessing here.
Yes, it would be interesting to see how she would do. Porntip Nakhirunkanok particiapted in Miss California USA and California Teen pageants and didn’t win. And she went on to become Miss Universe by representing Thailand. I hope that Anastagia reside in the Bahamas for at least 6 months prior to winning, otherwise she would be disqualified.
in 2003 i think it was a miss venezuela contestant competed in Miss Germany and won, she also went on to represent Germany at MU and ended up in the top 6… miss pierre has so much expectations on here now but this is truly like the story of crystle stewart who tried out for miss texas 5 times before winning… it would be such a feat for pierre to win and i do believe that she has what it takes to shine.
That was in 2002. Natascha Borger represented Yaracuy in Miss Veneuzuela 2000, but she did not make the top 10. But apparently her Miss Venezuela training served her well when she moved to Germany and she went on to win Miss Germany (or Miss Duestschland, whatever the pageant is called) and came up right behind an actual Miss Venezuela. Andrea Stelzer was Miss South Africa in 1985 and pulled out of the pageant because of anti-apartheid demonstration. She later actually participated in 1989, again, as Miss Germany, and like Natascha, ended up in 6th place.
Natasha Borger Sevilla Miss Germanie 2002 y semifinalist in Miss Universe of the same year was before Miss Yaracuy 2000 in Miss Venezuela 2000,
Beautiful ladies both of them. Planet Chuckie that’s really something isnt it? I was not aware that it was allowed but she didnt win Miss USA so I guess there should be no problem with her representing Bahamas
VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL ANASTASIA PIERRE AND INCREDIBLE HOT BODY.TOP 15 MU
Loved both winners! Well done Bahamas! Hope you make country of the year!
I was expecting Anastagia Pierre to go to Miss Universe!!
Bahamas now becomes one of my favorites!!!!!!!!!
was rooting for sasha joyce and anastagia …..they should be able to make the semis in both pageants!
Bahamas will do well this year at both Miss World & Miss Universe.
If Anastagia is a US citizen, she can’t be a Bahamian citizen therefore can she enter Ms Universe if she can’t prove her Bahamian citizenship?
You don’t need to be a citizen to represent another country, Miss Universe regulations stipulated a 6 month residency rule, so Anastagia have to reside in the Bahamas for at least six months prior to winning the Miss Bahamas.
Congratulation the winners!
Anastagia please leave your hair down at Miss Universe.
Who is that tall girl in the red dress? She seems more suited to go further in Ms. Universe. The winner is a beautiful girl for sure, but there is something unique about that taller girl.
All the best to the new Miss Bahamas. I know she will do very well at Miss Universe. We are all proud of her!
AJ you are right. I prefer the tall girl for Miss Universe.
Interesting. I understand that Ms Pierre was just granted Bahamian citizenship.
the girl in green with those peacock feathers luks extremely stunning and shud be sent to miss earth she will win at least a spot in top 7 she seems to be better than the 2 winners
I think Anastagia should compete at Miss Universe wearing that peacock feather gown (“Honey, can I borrow that?”). That gown has to be the most original I have seen in years.
AJ and Bismarckalison. Totally agree. I thought the girl in red was by far the most interesting. As soon as I saw the group photograph all I could see was her.
I believe Ms. Pierre has dual citizenship. One of her parents must be Bahamian and the other American. Also the six month rule. I am not surprised she is going to Universe. I wish her the best and all I can say is “HUN T BETTA WORK!!!”
Just by these photos alone I can see Bahamas have some very stunning women. I wonder why they keep getting ignored at Miss Universe?!!?
great picks for The Bahamas.
i prefer the tranny in red to have won miss universe! The winner’s facial features are too big for her face. Miss World choice is amazing!
I Think the tall girl in the red dress is the better choice.. She really stands out
and has Miss Universe written all over her… Is she Bahamian.. Oh well.. Maybe next time Bahamas
this time bahamas look strong but my fav is the lady in red
as we see the lady in red miss automall is the sentimental favourite of most of the respondents
I’m johnny come lately on these comments however i agree with AJ and bismarckalison on the May 2nd and 3rd comments. I was also looking at the tall girl in the red dress before i even saw your comments. i immediately thought, she would’ve been appropriate and wouldn’t it be funny if that if she was chosen to represent us in Miss Universe that she’d get a top 10 even top 5 spot? Oh well
in addition i will say all the best to our current winner. We’ve had beautiful girls in the past with beautiful bodies but they turned out to be a blurr among so many of the other miss universe contestants. i believe miss tall lady in red has a presence that may have stood out for once among that crowd.
The girl in the red dress is Sharie Delva. She has been doing pageants since she was a teenager and is now 25 years old. She has been in the Miss Bahamas Universe pageant three times and has not won yet! I am outraged that every year, she does not win this pageant when she clearly is the right choice. She has the qualities to become Miss Universe but never gets to go the pageant.
