Tickets for Miss Universe 2011 may not be sold to the general public

The MUO mailed all national directors yesterday informing that tickets for the Presentation Show and the Final Event of Miss Universe 2011, which will happen in São Paulo, Brazil, may not be sold to the general public. Each national director will have the right to two invitations, the rest will be up to BAND TV, the Brazilian organizers.

MUO asks national director to inform contestants’ family members and friends who intend to travel to Brazil to be aware of it.

How about the hundreds of fans who intended to watch the pageant in loco? It is certainly not a wise decision by the Brazilian organizers…

See what the memo said:

Please be advised that National Directors attending the 2011 MISS UNIVERSE Pageant will be given two tickets for the Presentation Show and two tickets for the Live Telecast.

Additional tickets and tickets for friends and family may be distributed by the Host Committee in Brazil (probably through a travel agency).  At this time we do not believe any tickets will be sold nor do we know how the tickets will be distributed.

Please keep this in mind when planning your trip and give this information to your contestant and her family.

As soon as I have further information from the Host Committee, I will let you know.

Several national directors wrote to GB with this information, and most of them, of course, are concerned with such news. We will keep fans posted on how it will develop.

This is BAD Business. No opportunity for The Donald trump to make extra money.
He may not show up for that reason.
The Brasil organizers are way mean !!
I hope that Brazil does not make top 15.

  • preciousa

it so sad,,live audience makes the show exciting. Im disaapointed.

  • Maximo

    Que verguenza….. Que horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve mailed the Miss Universe Organization (pr@missuniverse.com), asking for more details. I don’t think they will answer me, but I’ve tried! Let’s see. If this happens, I think all the fans and people who are waiting to watch the live telecast at the Theatre in Sao Paulo, will be very disappointed. This can’t happen this year. First time in Brazil and they do that!

  • AlexRio

They are not saying that the tickets won’t be sold to the general public. Don’t misunderstand the letter, please.

It’s clear. It is a comunication from MUO to the National Pageants Directors allowing two ticket to each one and advising that until this moment (now) the Host Commitee (Band) has not yet started public selling and not define how to distribute tickets to family members and relatives of directors and participants. Nothing to do with ‘no tickets will be sold’ to the general public.

    Stop this ‘theory of conspiracy’.

Dear AlexRio… the email sent by MUO is very clear… If you read it carefully, it says to NDs to ask the contestants to beware their family and friends about this issue. I heard the Credicard Hall got smaller after some changes made by MUO so from 7,000 people, only some 4,000 can enter to watch the show… It seems Band TV will take most of the tickets to their sponsors and special guests… some tickets will be on sale thru a special package that will include hotel rooms and they will be very expensive… but MUO was clear to say that they don´t think the tickets will be on sale for general public…

  • AlexRio

Well my friend, I don’t know what you know about Credicard got smaller to MU or packages very expensive or something else, this is a new information posted by yourself above.

I know what I read and in no way, in that email, they are saying that ‘tickets won’t be sold to the general public’ nor ‘tickets maybe won’t be sold to general public’.

This is not the point in the email.

It’s an ‘interpretation’ that’s not true. Let’s stay calm, they will clarify that properly soon, I think, but this is NOT written there in any way. Now, about what you know, I can’t say anything, cause I don’t know. Cheers. :-)

  • WilliamNYC

so what this means that the crowd will be selected, and it will be 99% brazilian. This is so weird.

  • Chansace

If this is the case CANCEL BRAZIL move it to Las Vegas, how can they let that happen, all these families will spent a fortune to get to Brazil to support their daughters, this is just crap, if tickets are made available to all the contestants families that will be fantastic, if not, than CANCEL BRAZIL, CANCEL BRAZIL, I don’t care how much they spent to get the Miss Universe there, Miss Universe is a global pageant NOT A BRAZILIAN PAGEANT, come on Donald Trump get the your BRAZILIAN organisers to shape up or SHIP OUT!!!!!!

  • sasa

well let me tell you., you won’t see anything…. the stage is very low to the botton so people sitting in front of you blcok the views…and people sitting in the back runs to the fron in the half of the show… a big mess… so its so much better to see it at home. … and the show is have recorded and video taped such as when they dance the final show, etc. you wont see the girls really closed….so is not worth it to go , unless you are a familiy or friend but even that its a mess..

  • Adele Santos

I can’t believe this! The Miss Universe pageant comes to Brazil and tickets will not be sold to the general public … What? Is it a joke? Is it legal? As far as I know, tickets have always been sold in former editions of the pageant in other countries, so why does it have to be different here in Brazil? It’s funny, because I have never really been able to find out how to buy tickets for the Miss Brazil pageant … just this year, there has been no information on how to buy the tickets … Does that mean that only a few selected ones can attend the big pageants over here in Brazil? How ridiculous! This is all wrong and as a pageant fan, I am not happy about the way both the MUO and the Brazilian organizers are dealing with the general public.

  • USAisBringingtheCrownHome!

If this is so the Miss Universe Organization will have its highest television ratings in a while. I would say this is a excellent move Mr. Trump!

  • WilliamNYC

Just a few days ago, I was reading that Miss Panama would be traveling with a huge contingent to Brazil.

  • Nelson

I agree with the poster who said CANCEL BRAZIL.
The Brazil organization only wants to stack the audience with Brazilians and to hell with anyone else.
This is the smallest foreign venue I have ever heard.
Doesn”t Brazil have larger accomodations to have this pageant in ?
It looks like it was a dumb idea to have it in Brazil if they are going to have it in a small hall that is not even close to the center of Sao Paulo, where tourists are not close by,, this is because the Miss Brazil organization does not want the tourists there and plans to give the tickets to sponsors and rich Brazilian friends.
The Donald Trump and MUO should change the venue to the USA, I am sure any US city could make the sudden change and accomodate plenty.

  • Julio Rodriguez

AlexRio: This is part of the email sent by MUO: “At this time we do not believe any tickets will be sold nor do we know how the tickets will be distributed.”

  • Julio Rodriguez

Red Bandeirantes is very similar to Venevision (Venezuela)… The Miss Venezuela pageant has never sold tickets in the last 20 years, all of the people who attended it has been invited by Venevision so, I guess they (in Brazil) will do just the same…

  • taddercountryman

SERA ACASO UN ABREBOCA DE LO QUE NOS ESPERA EN EL MUNDIAL DE FUTBOL Y EN LOS JUEGOS OLIMPICOS? VEREMOS

  • Bollo Loco

How tacky can they be, the general public makes the excitement………..

  • Jorge Internacional

I can’t believe this is actually true. Whatever they do in Venezuela or other countries is something they do in their NATIONAL pageant, they should know better than messing up with international fans. If this is really what’s gonna happen, let us know with time so we can change our plans. I already booked a flight to Sao Paulo and made reservations in the Hilton hotel. If this is what’s going to happen I’ll just cancel everything AND BOYCOTT THE MISS UNIVERSE ORGANIZATION. UNIVERSAL INSULT LETTER PART 2 ANYONE?

  • Buti Nga

This is home court advantage for Brazil

  • yul

Well like pretty Woman once said “Big mistake huge”

  • AlexRio

It’s funny read here people blaming Brazil and Band for something they never said will happen (no selling tickets to general public) LOL!.

    Funny and irresponsible.

  • Celso Mendes

Let’s give them the time, while that make sure that you’ll have a big screen to watch the MU2011 from home!

  • Izabel Bello

Dear friends, I don’t believe Band TV will commit such a stupid mistake. How would they dare to do something like that? Hundreds of families want to be here to support their daughters. It wouldn’t be fair and it would give a very negative image to us.
Let’s stay calm, I’m sure the MUO and Band TV won’t let such an absurd happen.
Please, don’t blame my country. There are nice people here and I’m one of those who, like you all, wanna be there in São Paulo to watch the pageant.

  • KL

I don’t know about you, but this is similar to the venue in Hong Kong where the tickets were so high priced that most of the audience were probably Hong Kong’s elite…so this is in a way, screening the people who are attending. In any case this might turn out to be a good thing…. it might prevent a hostile audience reaction like the pageants in 1993 and 2007.

  • Hopefully, BAND TV will have an easy-to-access ticket site. I’m assuming that the Credit Card Hall is large, with plenty of seats to be filled.

  • karen sy

I think they don’t want to happen what had happen before in Mexico(MU 2007) where fans are disrespectful.

  • Celso Mendes

Vale lembrar que em 2003 foi o último ano que houve ingressos à venda ao público para assistir o Miss Brasil. Após, os concursos MB foram realizados em eventos fechados e não eram disponibilizados ingressos para venda.

  • Celso Mendes

I’m very proud that MU will be live from Brazil, but the last pageants there wasn’t any controversy about the sales tickets.
