Miss Venezuela with Miss World Venezuela
19-year old Irene Sofia Esser Quintero, who represented the state of Sucre, was crowned Miss Venezuela 2011 during the annual ceremony held at the Venevision studios in Caracas on October 15th. A student of scenic arts, Irene was born in Puerto Ordaz (Bolivar) and grew up in Rio Caribe (Sucre); and stands 178 cm in height. She will compete in the 2012 Miss Universe pageant.
Meanwhile, Gabriela Ferrari Peirano (20) was crowned Miss World Venezuela. The student of Communications from Valencia stands 1.75 m tall and will compete in the Miss World 2012 pageant to be held over the summer. She represented Distrito Capital.
Miss Guarico, Blanca Aljibes, will represent Venezuela at the Miss International 2012 pageant in China. She is 23 years old with a height of 1.76 cm.
Miss Yaracuy, Osmariel Villalobos, will compete in Miss Earth 2012, and Miss Carabobo, Isabela Ramos Cano, was named the 1st runner-up.
According to Reuters, the 2012 Miss Universe pageant will be held in Kosovo.
24 beautiful women competed in the annual event. Due to Venezuela’s economic situation, organizers of the contest decided to hold a smaller event at the famous “Estudio Uno” in Venevision. The pageant’s usual venue, the “Poliedro”, was not used due to a considerable rise in its cost. In 2010, the event took place in the city of Maracaibo.
The Miss Venezuela pageant is the most watched national pageant in the planet, with a worldwide distribution in several markets. The success of this country in beauty pageants attracts the attention of journalists and followers alike.

Irene Quintero, Miss Venezuela 2011, looks like a hot Latina version of the Broadway superstar Idina Menzel to me…I think with a whole year of intense training, she can secure a place in the semifinals and might even restore Venezuela back to its former glory at Miss Universe…
It seems now Venezuela seriously targeting the crown of Miss World, there are sending the most beautiful, not Miss Universe.

miss venezuela universe 2011(to compete in miss universe 2012) looks like miss earth 2004(from brazil) priscilla meirelles, while miss world venezuela 2011(to compete in miss world 2012) has similarity with miss world 2008 ksenia sukhinova from russia. while watching the crowning moment of the so called most famous national beauty pageant in the planet, i have noticed that miss mundo is more beautiful in photos than television, on the other hand, miss universo is telegenic and charming and she looks refreshing—compare to the old-looking and “thank you doctor” vanessa goncalves…
i like her. she actually looks like a real person and not the plastic women that venezuela often sends to miss universe. i do think she’d do better at miss world though where they go for a more natural beauty over glamour

The country has a majority Black and Mulata population yet the Dark skin women are not encouraged to participate by the racist organizers.
Organizers must have flipped when a Black girl won Miss Universe this year.

I totally agree with Nelson.When you walk the streets in Venezuela the majority of the population is dark skinned.Somehow they managed to only have lightskinned misses !!
That’s not true, if you go to a mall, all the girls there are beautiful, but what can you expect if you walk in a street? some girls will be dark skinned and some will be white,venezuela have a lot of skin color.
(pardon my english). Osmel Sousa (MV Manager) once said that most Miss Venezuela are lightskinned because the dark skin women in our country are not as beautiful. He believes that if we had dark skin women like the ones in Colombia, we would have more dark skin Miss Venezuelas. I agree. Brazil and Colombia have really beautiful darkskin women, many with green eyes. After WWII many people from Germany, Spain, Portugal and Italy moved to Venezuela and that is why we have this type of Miss Venezuelas.

Venezuela is truly multicultural and mixed. We have very few people of one specific race, most of us are children of an immigrant parent married to a Venezuelan already mixed raced parent. Me myself am 50% Italian and my mother is 50% Spaniard and 50% a compound of white European besides Spaniard, aborigine and even black somewhere in there… so go figure. You should see my sisters and I together…
Bear also in mind that a lot of those “blonds” you see in MV are the product of a transformation process (and that is not referring to plastic surgeries).
Osmel Souza can only be accused of idealist and you can’t negate his success and how many successful women have come out of the MV, even a presidential candidate that was a great mayor and governor…
Failed, the most Venezuelans are mulattos … not black … I live in Venezuela … I know,Miss Venezuela Organization is trying to be as diverse as possible on the issue of race … if they do not win is not the fault of the organization.

What cracks me up is that they dont crown the other 2 especially that they have won a lot of Miss International titles and yet don’t honor it.

It seems Osmel is doing some changes and listening to the criticism….get contestants who looked more natural and real. I am hoping that this year’s Miss Venezuela will do well at Miss Universe, as it would encourage more beauty contestants to be natural and shy away from the knife. Then again, who am I kidding…
