Miss Universe asks Nha Trang to host 2011 event
June 30 – President of Miss Universe Organisation (MUO) Paula Shugart has asked Khanh Hoa province to host the 2011 Miss Universe pageant.
Meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the central province of Khanh Hoa People’s Committee Le Xuan Than on June 30, Paula Shugart said her organisation has selected Nha Trang as the venue for next year’s contest and to celebrate 60 years of the establishment of the organisation.
“We are waiting for permission from Khanh Hoa province and the Vietnamese government,” she said.
Than welcomed the organisation’s proposal, saying he believed that Khanh Hoa is capable of hosting the event, as it had hosted the Miss Universe in 2008.
He told the MUO and its partner to draw up detailed plans including fundings for the event to submit to the provincial People’s Committee. Once approved by the committee, the plans will be submitted to the Government for consideration.
An official announcement should take place in the last months of the year. VietnamPlus

again?! there are at least 80 countries participating the tilt…and not all of them have hosted, can MU Org at least bring it to other countries for god sake?! Not that Vietnam is not a good host but for pure entertainment value, audience would love to see a new host! Gees

@ Kyle: In 2008, Vietnam asked MU organization to host this competition in VN, and so that we had to pay ourself. But now, MU O asked VN to host, they will have to pay!
I think, vietnam again, for me it was one of the most buring finals, one that ever be in my mind was the 2005 from bangkok thailand…so beauty
Vietnam? They have made a bad choice, especially Nha Trang. Poor entertainment, miry streets, disgusting service (((( I would prefer Chinese Chengdu or Caribbean Islands.
And the best place in Vietnam (in my opinion) is Hoi An.
As the same criticism I am making to Julia Morley regarding the announcement of Miss World once again in Sanya, China, I say the same to the Miss Universe Organization. I know that it’s the most expensive pageant to host but at least they could have try to bring it back to any European country after a decade (last European country to host was Cyprus in 2000). I guess the answer is under Donald Trump’s toupee.
well this year Miss World 2010 will not be held in Viet Nam ( the supporter want to replace The Nha Trang city to Tien Giang province while the govenrment is not allowed with it ) . It’s will return to China.
But this year the Miss Earth 2010 will be held in Vietnam .
And the MUO has selected Nha Trang city for the MUP 2011 . It’s not the vietnamese tried to host it so of course all the fees to held the MU 2011 will be support from MUO and Trump’s company.
And i’m glad that they selected Vietnam cos we believe that Vietnam could be a good destination to host all the beauties contest.
