Luciana Bertolini from Roraima is Miss World Brazil 2009

The Miss World Brazil 2009 pageant took place last Saturday night at the Novo Frade Hotel, in Angra dos Reis, and the winner was Luciana Bertolini, 24 y-o, 1.76 m-tall, a student of Journalism who represented the state of Roraima.

The first runner-up was Livia Barraque, Miss Espírito Santo, and the 2nd runner-up was Livia Nepomuceno, Miss Distrito Federal

brazil2The competition was so tight that the was a tie between 1st and 2nd, Roraima and Espirito Santo (5 votes each), and between 3rd and 4th, Distrito Federal and Pernambuco, Karine Barros (4 votes each). Second-place votes decided the pageant.

The other two finalists were Karine Osorio, Miss World Acre, Isabel Correia, Miss World Sergipe.

The Fast-track winners were Anelise Laulau, Miss Campeche Island (Sports), Karine Barros, Miss Pernambuco (Talent), Mariana Notarangelo, Miss Rio de Janeiro (Beach Beauty), Isabel Correia, Miss Sergipe (Best Model), Cristiane Kampa, Miss Paraná (Beauty With a Purpose) and Amanda Froes, Miss Bahia (Miss Popularity).

Miss Santa Catarina Island, Elisa Hoeppers, won the Most Beautiful Gown Award, and Miss Paraíba, Alessandra Vilela, was electedMiss Congeniality and Miss Hospitality Novo Frade (elected by the host hotel crew).

The new Miss Brazil won R$ 20.000 cash, a trip to Italy, courtesy of The Leading Hotels of the World, worth $15.000 Euros, a full university scholarship, worth nearly USD 65.000,00, and much more.

Luciana’s sister was Miss World Brazil in 1998. She competed in the Seychelles and placed in the top 10. She is getting ready to carry on Tamara Almeida’s work as ambassador to the environment.

She will represent Brazil in Miss World 2009, to be held in London, Dubai and South Africa. It’s the first time an international pageant will be hosted by 3 countries in 3 different continents.

Miss Sergipe wins Best Model fast-track event

Isabel Correia, Miss Sergipe, won the title Best Model Brazil at the Novo Frade Hotel and became the fourth candidate to advance to Miss Brazil’s semi-finals. The runner-ups were Misses Acre, Karine Osório, and Rio Grande do Norte, Daliane Menezes.

The other two finalists were the contestants from Mato Grosso do Sul, Lorena Bueri, and Tocantins, Karen Jasper.

The 38 beauties paraded in outfits created by Elaine Henrique.

All 5 were hired by L’Equipe, one of the top agencies in Brazil.

Beach Beauty Brazil 2009 is Miss Rio de Janeiro

Mariana Notarangelo, Miss Rio de Janeiro, won the Beach Beauty Brazil fast-track event and adavanced to Miss World Brazil 2009’s semi-finals. The runner-up was Miss São Paulo, Jocasta Costa, and the 2nd runner-up was Miss Distrito Federal, Livia Nepomuceno.

The other two finalistas were Miss Marajó, Jordana Sidô, and Miss Acre, Karine Osório.

Pernambuco wins talent fast track event!

Miss Pernambuco, Karine Barros, won the Talent fast-track event and advanced to the semi-finals of Miss World Brazil 2009! The runner-ups were Misses Sergipe and Mato Grosso.

Miss Sportswoman Brazil is Miss Ilha do Campeche!

Miss Ilha do Campeche, Anelise Laulau, won the Miss Sportswoman Brazil fast-track event, and became the first Miss World Brazil 2009 candidate to advance to the sem-finals. Two other islands came in second and third placed, respectively: Miss Ilha de Santa Catarina, Elisa Hoeppers, who took silver, and Miss Fernando de Noronha, Raquel Peddoni, winner of the bronze medal.

The 38 girls were divided in 4 groups: Spice Green, Together and MixSSed, Red Roses, and Green Girls. They played volleyball, soccer, and golf.

Miss World Brazil will be crowned this weekend, at the Novo Frade Hotel, in Angra dos Reis. The show will be telecast to the whole country by CNT.

Miss World Brazil starts this Sunday

Thirty-nine incredible beauties representing the 26 Brazilian states, the Federal Distric, and for the first time 12 islands, start competing for the Miss World Brazil 2009 title this Sunday. In addition to representing Brazil in Miss World 2009, the lucky winner will win some amazing prizes. Among many great prizes, for the first time ever, a Miss Brazil (for Miss World or Universe) will be awarded by Oswaldo Cruz University a full scholarship, worth nearly US$ 60,000.00.

Following the Miss World model, the Brazilian contest will have a series of fast-track events before the big final. On Monday they will compete in Miss Sports, on Tuesday on Miss Talent, then on Wednesday the Beach Beauty contest will take place, followed by Best Model Brazil on Thursday. On Friday we will learn the winner of the Beauty With a Purpose contest.

Miss World Brazil 2009 will carry on the work initiated by Tamara Almeida, as ambassador to the Friends of the Earth NGO. In addition to participating in many environment protection actions, she will visit schools teaching kids about the importance of preserving our environmet.
