At Miss Universe 2011, all the contestants were judged by a preliminary panel of judges in swimsuit, evening gown and interview. According to one judge, the 10 contestants with the highest average makes the cut. The MUO picked 5 contestants while a 16th semi-finalist is chosen by internet vote.

During the competition, the 16 competed in swimsuit. Each judge scored the contestants with a score from 1.00 to 9.99 and the scores are averaged. The 10 highest scoring contestants moved into the evening gown round.

After the evening gown, the 5 highest scoring contestants moved inot the final round, which is the interview.

After the interview round, the judges take a final look at each contestants and give each of them a ranking, and the contestant with the lowest scores, presumably the one with the most number 1 or 2 votes, wins.

So…can someone explain to me how was Miss World 2012 chosen? I have trouble even comprehending how Miss World last year was chosen.

If I am not wrong, china held the miss world 2006,and miss china did not enter any of the fast track or the semi-finalist, when I actually think that she looks very pretty. The winner of that year was Iceland, who I don’t find outstanding. I don’t think the judges will be influenced by politics at all.

  3. Frank says:

I actually thought the title was between Wales and Souh Sudan. China seemed to be the only top 7 finalist who did not speak english, so I thought she probably would not win. I don’t regard the Miss World Pageant as being a pageant at all. It’s been said before, but this program is really like watching paint dry. Boring, boring, boring…..and Julia Morley should not be judging her own pageant.

Concurso largo, fastidioso y super aburrido!!!!!

I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW CHINA WON. IF THE FINAL ANSWER SHALL BE CONSIDERED, SOUTH SUDAN SHOULD HAVE WON. CHINA GOT THE WEAKEST RESPONSE. IF POISED AND BEAUTY SHALL BE AT STAKE IN THE FINAL ROUND, CHINA IS ALSO AT THE BOTTOM 3. THIS ONLY PROVES THAT IT’S REALLY A COOKING SHOW. THE CROWN WAS ALREADY MADE FOR CHINA WHILE THE REST OF THE GIRLS WERE VYING FOR THE RUNNERS-UP PLACEMENTS. WELL, MS. WORLD IS PURELY BUSINESS AND CHINA GOT THE BIGGEST DONATION, RIGHT MS. JULIA MORLEY?

Miss World Organization owe an explanation to the people on how this mess came up- no judges presented, no clear pointing system, inaccuracy of the tabulations, how the final 7 and final 3 were judged etc..

Highly political result at MW 2012……….sorry to say

  7. Hamzah says:

    MUST READ!!!

It’s very strange that miss china and miss world 2007 (also from china) wore the exact same colour and fabric and similar esign of evening gown. And if you reall pay attention, the colour matches the blue diamond crown, it’s as of they knew they were going to win so they wore gowns to match the crown!!! …. Hmmm just saying!! lol

  11. miggo says:

this is not BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE…this is COMPETITION WITH A PURPOSE… 2011 edition of Miss World the crown was already given to China…

  12. Keno says:

I AM CONFUSED WHAT KIND OF CRITERIA MISS WORLD IS USING, WHY THE WORLD DESIGNER POINTS DID NOT INCLUDE? I HOPE YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR PROCESS.. AND DO IT MORE ACCURATELY.. WHY MISS USA IN THE TOP 15? LOOK UP IN HER SCORE. I AM NOTHING AGAINST I BELIEVE IN MISS WORLD YOUR CONTEST PARTICIPATED BY MORE THAN 100 COUNTRIES EACH YEAR, THAN MISS UNIVERSE AND MISS EARTH ONLY LESS THAN 90 PARTICIPATING, PROVE TO THESE 120 COUNTRIES YOUR CREDIBILITY.. PLEASE.. THANKS

  13. john from england says:

I undersgand the controvery bug am surprised bow many say that miss universe is fairer. U.s.a. an puerto rico have one a qjarter of the titles usually over stronger contestants and girls from the americas are over represented most years in the finalse

  14. Richard says:

watever, miss china she’s actually deserving but too nervous in the final. she’s been the champion for many times in GB nd i think she’s better than the missworld 2007.

  15. suzannah says:

If you people are not happy with the result or production why not contact the MW organisation from their web site and tell them so.

The result may well have been political, but it might not have been, the winner was very pretty. I liked her. Who ever was chosen someone would complain. I for one don’t understand how Kenya made it to the semi final 15 and Gudeloupe, Nepal or Ukraine didn’t. But I am not a judge, everyone is different and the judges on the night preferred different candidates to me.

Accept the results and move on.

  16. Shikha says:

Miss S.Sudan should have been miss world!! and Miss India should have been the runner up. China was good as a finalist….

  17. pageant fan says:

Miss China…I hate u…Girls like Wales , India and South Sudan were deserving…

  18. Phoenix777 says:
